Rapid tests in disaster medicine

Infectious diseases are a worldwide issue. Their consequences are especially bad in regions where medical care is lacking. People and physicians have been fighting the Ebola virus in Africa since 2013. But cases of infection in Europe still remain limited. This is partly due to the faster and better diagnosis. So-called rapid tests are designed to improve the early recognition of diseases on-site, where access to laboratories is limited. Read more about it in our Topic of the Month January "Disaster medicine".
