MEDICA 2015: Imaging and surgery go hand in hand

Minimal-invasive surgery is becoming more and more important and has developed to be a standard procedure in many areas. It has considerable advantages compared to open surgery: It puts less strain on the patient who has to stay in hospital for a shorter amount of time. Also, the risk of infections is smaller thanks to smaller surgery wounds. Minimal-invasive procedures present the surgeon with a problem though: He is not able to see the area of surgery directly. There are technologies available to help him by letting him see inside the patient – either with imaging or via miniaturized cameras in the surgical instruments.

Learn more about this in our newest Trend Topic "Interventional Imaging / Surgery" and of course at the MEDICA EDUCATION CONFERENCE: At Monday, 16 November, "Surgery and new operative techniques" are on the agenda.
