Ulm-based healthcare specialist Beurer is further expanding its range of options relating to blood glucose measurement. After presenting the Bluetooth®-enabled blood glucose monitor GL 50 evo last year at MEDICA 2014, the company is now enabling its customers to additionally transfer the measured blood glucose values from the GL 50 evo directly to the digital diabetes diary app of mySugr. As part of the "Diabetes Congress 2015" in Berlin, visitors were able find out about the new cooperation at a joint stand of Beurer and mySugr.
Data transfer to the mySugr diary app
The diary app of mySugr is the top diabetes app in six countries. It offers numerous options for recording all parameters relating to diabetes in a fun way. A meaningful diary with neatly and clearly recorded data forms the basis for finding the right course of treatment. In conjunction with the GL 50 evo, all of the app's diary functions can be used free of charge.
Who is mySugr?
mySugr GmbH is a company from Vienna that focuses specifically on the needs of diabetes patients with the aim of making diabetes treatment as pleasant as possible. With its modern look, the app tackles the serious issue of diabetes from a completely different angle. A little diabetes monster guides users through the whole subject and they learn how to tame this monster. "We inject fun, modernity and motivation into the lives of people with diabetes," as it explains on the website www.mysugr.com. MySugr already has over 270,000 registered users from 44 countries.
The compatible blood glucose monitor GL 50 evo
The GL 50 evo blood glucose monitor, which received the Red Dot Award for its outstanding design, is a 3-in-1 compact device consisting of a measuring device, lancing device and plug-in USB.
The special feature of the product: the measured values can be transferred to Beurer's own health management system, Beurer HealthManager. The data can be transferred to the PC software via USB or directly to the app using the optionally available Bluetooth® Smart adapter or NFC adapter. This can also be synchronised with the web version. As a result of the mySugr cooperation, the user can now also transfer the data into the mySugr app.
Further functions of the GL 50 evo: Alarm and timer function, haematocrit correction and ketone warning. Due to the integrated rechargeable battery, the user no longer has to change the batteries. The GL 50 evo enables optimised diabetes management thanks to the integrated measurement marking. You can stipulate whether the measuring took place before or after eating using different symbols. For measurements taken after sport, for example, a general label can be set. Average values for 7, 14, 30 or 90 days can then be displayed from the measurements. The blood volume check monitors whether the measurements were taken with a sufficient volume of blood of 0.6 microlitres. The entire measurement only takes around 5 seconds and the GL 50 evo allows 480 measurement values to be saved, including the date and time. The extra-wide test strips simplify use. Individually wrapped test strips, which are very handy, particularly for on the go, are included in delivery.
