LÜBECK/DUBAI. It took a development period of three years, an investment volume of several million euros and nearly 30 patents to launch Dräger’s anesthesia system Zeus®, which will be now showcased at Arab Health in Dubai for the first time.
The German Healthcare Export Group-member co-operated with Josef Holzki, M.D., President of the FEAPA (Federation of European Association of Paediatric and Anaesthesia) and his staff at the Children’s Hospital in Cologne/Germany.
Zeus® now offers e.g. ventilation without limitation, hemodynamic monitoring and integrated anesthesia effect monitoring. Integration of intravenous anesthesia including a loadable data bank of medications that is applied to each clinic individually is another highlight.
“This is a quantum leap in medical technology which makes it possible for the first time to even anesthesize children weighing less than three kilograms”, Holzki says.
Holzki and his crew prepared the pediatric application for automated computer-assisted anesthesia control for series production. Automatic control delivers the exact quantity of anesthetic gas specific to the patient for fast induction and recovery of the anesthetic gases and also a stable depth of anesthesia.
The advantages: This reduces anesthetic costs and prevents children from dehydrating due to excess dry gas. This total rebreathing system keeps the moisture, which is physiologically required within the breathing circuit and reduces the risk of postoperative complications.
