Extreme ruggedness, extreme performance, the ultimate outdoor IT companion

Düsseldorf, Germany (November 18, 2009) – At this year’s MEDICA, the world’s largest medical trade show that is being held in Düsseldorf, Germany (November 18 – 21), visitors to the Panasonic booth can have a closer look at the CF-19, one of the flagship models of the Toughbook ruggedized notebook range. Featuring new and advanced technologies, which include new LED backlit screen technology for the CF-19, high degree of usability, variety of interfaces, Gobi (Qualcomm) Module and rugged construction they are the perfect companion for tough environments.

Embracing Intel’s latest processors, the new Toughbook models support Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor SU9300 (CF-19 with 1.20 GHz, 3 MB*1 L2 cache, 800 MHz FSB) respectively Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor SL9300 (CF-30 with 1.6 GHz, 6 MB*1 L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB) offering continued long battery life with local processing requirements. With some of the best performance per watt, the SU9300 and SL 9300 Intel platform provides energy-efficient performance and effortless multi-tasking. One of the significant changes within the new generation CF-19, is the adoption of an LED back light. The advantages the new feature supplies are great strength and reliability, greater battery life; low power consumption and leading anti glare coatings providing excellent clarity, even under bright sunlight and at various angles of view. Using this technology has doubled the screen brightness and means both the CF-19 now offer 1000 nit brightness and touch screen functionality.

Panasonic support the most advanced platforms to deliver the connectivity wherever and whenever you need it. Using an integrated Gobi (Qualcomm) Module, the CF-19 will support connectivity from GSM dial up, GPRS, Edge, and 3G to 7.2Mbps HSUPA access. Working with market leading chip set manufactures and integrating our own aerial technology into the note book cabinet, delivers the most stable and flexible package, including CDMA and GSM support in the Mk3.

With Panasonics commitment to reliability and low failure rates, the stringent testing procedures shows best performance from single layer hard disc drives, with the advances in storage and access times the CF-19 HHD will increase from 120 Gb to 160 Gb drive, to offer continued focus on the reliability and performance. The data on the hard drive is protected in extreme cold, heat, dust, humidity or even under the stress of heavy vibrations, thanks to component protection, which is compliant with MIL-STD 810F and IP54 standards. The Toughbook can also withstand falls of up to 90 cm when open and fully operational thanks to an all-round magnesium casing and hard-drive protection which comes in the shape of a 32 mm thick specialised foam jacket and aluminium frame mounting.

The combined performance of the components ensures demanding applications and processes operate seamlessly, whilst optimised batteries provide approximately nine hours of power from a single charge, making it ideal for working away from a mains supply.

The Panasonic CF-19 Toughbook combines the features of a classic notebook and tablet PC. To transform the laptop into tablet mode, the user simply twists the 10.4” TFT colour display vertically back-to-front and folds it over the keyboard. The resulting touch screen allows for convenient data entry using a finger or stylus, ideal when working on the road.

The next generation CF-19 will benefit from Duo Touch. Delivering ever increasing functionality and flexibility to the mobile work force, this flexibility will enable pen driven applications to sit side by side to the rugged touch environment, offering a single build and product for your whole field work force.
