Cancer is a sneaky disease. It can remain unnoticed for a long time. Some tumors can hardly be treated surgically. Also, surgery may deal great damage to the body, if extensive amounts of tissue have to be removed. But even then surgeons cannot be sure that the tumor has been taken out completely, since its boundaries are not always clear.
