ISO 17025 is titled “General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories” and has many of the same requirements as ISO 9001, but is more stringent in some specific areas.
This standard was developed specifically to give guidance to lab managers on both quality management and the technical requirements for the proper operation of a laboratory. Thus, ISO 17025 can be thought of as the technical compliment to ISO 9001. As a matter of fact, any organization who meets the requirements for ISO 17025 automatically is ISO 9001 compliant (but the converse is not true).
ISO 17025 is an international standard governing most of the important aspects of calibration processes. Laboratories who meet this standard should operate a quality control system, be technically competent and be capable of producing technically valid results. The intention of ISO 17025 is to provide a functional system or hierarchy of calibration laboratories in which end user can have confidence.
Fine Care Biosystems is first and only pipette manufacturer from Asia/Pacific to get its calibration laboratory accredited with ISO 17025.
