September 29th is World Heart Day. Introduced in 2000 by the World Heart Federation (WHF), it provides answers to the question: How can I protect myself against possible cardiovascular diseases? This year`s slogan "My Heart, your Heart" is intended to encourage people to pay more attention to their own heart health and that of others.
Every year more than 17 million people worldwide die from heart attacks and/or strokes. Give more attention to your heart health and that of others.
Lack of exercise, unhealthy diet, stress, nicotine and alcohol consumption - today the majority of the population is affected by at least one of these factors. However, very few people are aware that they pose significant risks for cardiovascular disease. The consequences: More than 17 million people worldwide die of heart attack or stroke every year. Studies by the WHF have shown that 80 percent of these deaths could have been avoided by a healthy lifestyle.
The result of these studies give reason for clarification. The World Heart Federation (WHF), an association of heart foundations and cardiological societies from more than 100 countries, is offering advisory services and prevention projects on heart health for the 18th time in row. Under the motto „Make your promise!“, the WHF appeals to everyone to give oneself and others the promise to lead a conscious lifestyle and thus to protect one’s own heart and that of others from health risks at the same time.
