Avian Influenza :

Recombinant H5 Haemagglutinin (HA) Antigen of Avian Influenza derived from Subtype H5N1, Code BS 6134

Influenza A Virus, strain H5N1, is an influenza virus that occurs mainly in birds. The H5N1 virus does not usually infect human however in 1997, the first case of spread from a bird to a human was seen during an outbreak of bird flu in poultry in Hong Kong.

Our new recombinant antigen is potentially suitable for serological detection of antibodies to HA surface antigen of avian influenza by western blot and ELISA.

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) :

Recombinant SARS Coronavirus S1 Domain, Code BS 6100

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody to SARS Spike Regions, Code BO 1199

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody to SARS Nucleoprotein, Code BO 1202

Mouse Monoclonal Antibody to SARS Nucleoprotein, Code BO 120

Our SCoV S1 protein, in conjunction with our monoclonal antibodies to a number of SARS spike regions, will give researchers the possibility to investigate binding of S1 domain to ACE2 and other putative receptors.

hSHBG mouse monoclonal antibodies (Aalto code AL 1090)

Protein A purified monoclonals are available.   These will work  cooperatively for both capture and label detection of hSHBG by immunoassay.

Purified hSHBG (Aalto code AJ 3144)

This product is intended for use in the preparation of controls and standards.

*********************************************************

Human Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (hSHBG) is a circulating plasma glycoprotein which transports estrogens and androgens in the peripheral circulation.

Binding to SHBG reduces the metabolic degradation of these steroids.   Measurement of hSHBG is therefore a useful indirect test for free androgens and estrogens.

The measurement of glycated hemoglobin as a percentage of total hemoglobin provides a valuable means of assessing the long-term control of glucose levels in diabetic patients and constitutes an important risk indicator for identifying Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

There are a number of different human hemoglobin (Hb) variants the most prevalent being HbA1, HbS and HbC.   HbA1 is the most common variant making up approximately 97% of the total hemoglobin in normal adult red blood cells.   HbS is a hemoglobin variant associated with sickle cell anemia which occurs predominantly in African Americans.   HbC is another hemoglobin variant found in people of African ancestry including African Americans and West Indians.

Glycated hemoglobin is formed in-vivo by the reaction between glucose and the N-terminal region of the hemoglobin b-chain resulting in HbA1c, HbS1c or HbC1c  depending on the predominant hemoglobin variant present.  When developing an assay to detect glycosylation of hemoglobin one should therefore take into account the characteristics of the patient population

We are pleased to confirm availability of our new mouse monoclonal antibody to Glycated Hemoglobin A1c (Code BF 1190) for use in assay development.

We also have the following products available which are intended for spiking for preparation of HbA1c controls and calibrators.

HbA1c Solution > 25%, Code AJ 3128-b

HbA1c  Solution < 2%, Code AJ 3182

The range of products offered by Aalto Bio is being continually expanded to meet new customer demands.   We are pleased to announce the availability of the following infectious disease antigens :

Purified and Stabilised Recombinant SLO antigen (AW 6093-b)

This antigen has been chemically stabilised to allow for improved attachment to latex particles for the development of latex enhanced quantitative immunoturbidimetric and immunonephelometric applications for detection of anti-Streptolysin O (ASO).   The stabilisation process destroys hemolytic activity but retains antigenic activity which is responsible for reactivity with ASO antibodies.

More Concentrated Purified Rubella Virus Antigen (AW 6088)

This new grade has been introduced to facilitate the following applications :

* Production of enzyme conjugates (eg peroxidase) for use as  the label component in IgM class capture ELISA assay.

* Preparation of coated latex particles for the quantitative latex enhanced immunoturbidimetric assay of antibodies to Rubella.

Toxoplasma gondii Soluble Antigen, Treated (AW 6092)

This new grade has been introduced to facilitate the following applications :

* Production of enzyme conjugates (eg peroxidase) for use as  the label component in IgM class capture ELISA assay.

* Preparation of coated latex particles for the quantitative latex enhanced immunoturbidimetric assay of antibodies to T. gondii.
