Less bleeding - less necrosis

The revolution in medicine started by introducing the first battery driven small diode laser "FOX". Now we do it again. A Sapphire scalpel is attached to the FOX to cut an coagulate at the same time. The blade, which is sharp and is used for cutting was theoretically calculated by mathematical modeling to a maximum transmission to avoid heating of the hand piece and to maximize the coagulation effect. Less bleeding at the wound, less necrosis compared to the direct laser beam cutting. The tactile feeling of the surgeon during surgery is the same like with a standard scalpel.

The laser is transmitted thru the sapphire crystal and exits the sapphire where it is the sharpest. Right at the edge. The temperatures are above 65° at the edges to allow coagulation, but no tissue removal or carbonization (<100°) The cut is achieved by the mechanic of the knife.

The wound stays clear and no blood will distract the view of the surgeon. The result is a clean and nearly blood free cut into tissue. The patient will benefit from a fast healing and no bruising or swelling of the wound. Inflammation is reduced.

Perfect operation

The Trabeculas laser coupling on the Haag Streit maintains enough space between slit lamp and patients eye to comfortably adjust the lens to any position needed for the treatment. No laser mirror hinders and takes space between the slit lamp mirror and the patients eye, as the coupling is engineered with an internal mirror in the slit projector of the Haag Streit slit lamp.

A comfortable way to perform selective laser trabeculoplasty
