The New Man - Spares from the laboratory
In the case of small injuries and diseases the human body is able to regenerate itself. Not so in the case of damaged organs – here a organ transplantation is the last resort. Because donor organs are rare, physicians research at biomaterials, which can replace the human tissue. From the hip joint to synthetic hearts: to grow new tissue is no longer sorcery.
Today missing limbs can be replaced by perfectly fitted prostheses. Researcher try to optimize these prostheses with the goal to create a substitute, which can’t be distinguished from natural limbs.
