corpuls integrates Biosigna´s innovative ECG algorithm

Over the last years, GS Elektromedizinische Geräte G. Stemple GmbH (GS) has developed its new emergency and monitoring system corpuls3, which was recently introduced to the market and successfully field-tested. The corpuls3 offers an entirely new and revolutionary design-concept compared to the traditional compact defibrillator/monitoring devices. It is designed as a complete modular system - offering unrivalled ergonomics, functionality and flexibility.

As part of the monitoring system, the device contains a 6-12 lead ECG module, allowing a continuous ECG monitoring, recording and analysis of high-fidelity diagnostic ECGs. This module contains now one of the most accurate and comprehensive algorithms available on the market, the HES® algorithm of BIOSIGNA®. The algorithm provides not just accurate measurements of wave durations such as e.g. P- and QRS-duration, PQ and QT-intervals, but also an accurate interpretation, helping the user to quickly decide on the right treatment of patients. “Although automatic interpretation in emergency care is not a commonly applied feature in all European countries, we are sure that the demand will increase significantly over the next years. The HES® algorithm has reached a level of performance really providing a reliable second opinion to ambulance men”, says Klaus Stemple, one of the managing directors and CTO of GS.

The algorithm HES® was originally developed in 1971 in co-operation with leading cardiologists from all over the world. Since then, the software has been continuously improved. Today, HES® is considered a quasi standard for ECG analysis and interpretation and is one of the most sensitive and comprehensive algorithms worldwide. HES® has been implemented by leading medical equipment manufactures since 1979 - today, worldwide more than 50.000 cardiologists and physicians trust the HES® diagnostic in their daily work.

HES® is available for all system environments - whether Windows, Linux, Macintosh, embedded systems (Windows CE, Palm etc.) or for DSP integration. The HES® algorithm is FDA approved since 2000 and fulfils all relevant international norms (ANSI / AMMI EC11 and IEC 60601-2-51).

GS and BIOSIGNA® started their cooperation in 2006 and finished integration of HES® in record time. In future, the two companies will further intensify their joint developments to set new standards in the emergency care and monitoring industry. The new corpuls3 will be presented at this year’s MEDICA in Düsseldorf, Germany (14th to 17th November) in Hall 9, booth E36
