World Diabetes Day: Healthy living with diabetes

A healthy lifestyle is essential . Therefore, this year’s World Diabetes Day (November 14th) takes place under the motto "Healthy eating begins with breakfast". Since 2006, the second official UN awareness day unites the global diabetes community and appeals to the awareness of diabetes.

From 2014 to 2016 the great topic of the World Diabetes Day is "Healthy Living with Diabetes" which was initiated by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF). This is why everything revolves around food and nutrition in relation to diabetes.

According to the IDF about 70 percent of all diabetes type 2 cases could be prevented through healthy eating and active movement. By 2035, 150 million less people could develop diabetes than currently estimated.

Currently there are approximately 400 million diabetics worldwide. 5 million annually die from the disease.

For this reason, it is more important than ever to prevent diabetes with a healthy and active lifestyle to reduce the risk of developing the disease. The investment in a healthy breakfast would also reduce the global burden of diabetes and save billions in healthcare costs.
