World Blood Donor Day

Host country of World Blood Donor Day this year is South Korea. The day is celebrated annually to mark the birthday of Karl Landsteiner, the discoverer of blood groups. According to the WHO, 92 million blood donations are made each year worldwide, 45 per cent of all donors are younger than 25 years old and 40 per cent are female.
