Düsseldorf, Germany (November 18, 2009) – Panasonic will be unveiling its latest range of products and technologies in the categories diagnostics, pain therapy, hospital IT, emergency IT and devices at MEDICA (November 18 – 21, 2009) in Düsseldorf, Germany, at booth D49 in hall 13.

Panasonic is making important contributions to the healthcare field by proposing strong solutions for disease management and offering reliable therapeutic and diagnostic medical equipment. For example, Hospital efficiency and safety can be improved by making use of new robotic systems. New, advanced technologies in the form of IT and digital imaging systems are now ready to be put into the hands of hospital workers. Panasonic products that help to detect diseases early and encourage lifestyle changes clearly help the medical community to prevent and control lifestyle related diseases.

In the area of diagnostics, Panasonic will be presenting its latest line-up of blood pressure monitors. The Panasonic Safety System includes the new upper arm blood pressure monitors EW-BU30 Comfort and EW-BU60 Premium PC that offer the highest measuring accuracy. This system combines advanced measuring technology with innovative passive controlling and auxiliary functions that make measuring and analyzing blood pressure readings both easy and safe.

In the product category of pain therapy, Panasonic will be displaying its two electro stimulators, the Panasonic THERAPY EW6011 and EW6021, two innovative devices for pain therapy at home based on the latest TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) technology. This method of therapy is recognized all over the world and can be used to interrupt the transmission of pain signals via the nerve paths. Scientific studies have also shown that it encourages the body to produce its own pain-inhibiting substances (endorphins), thus helping to ensure fast pain relief. THERAPY uses gentle or strong impulses that go deep into the body’s tissues to relax muscles, relieve or block pain or encourage circulation, depending on the type of stimulation involved. The so-called gate control mechanism blocks pain by interrupting the transmission of pain signals to the brain.

Hospital IT highlights the unique Medication Picking Robot, a highly sophisticated and space-saving robot for in-hospital operation. The soft robotic picker assists in the improvement of patient safety and will help guide process efficiencies throughout the hospital. Full HD Operation Room Recording System offers high resolution and exceptionally accurate color images with very compact camera system. 3D Dome-shaped Display for Laparoscopic Surgery provides the depth perception with high resolution for laparoscopic or microscopic views, which is expected to reduce the tiredness of doctors even in the marathon operation. Full-HD Monitors for Surgery in the sizes of 32” and 37” gives you superb image quality for surgery and endoscopic reference with bright and clear color reproduction capabilities. All these products deploy Panasonic’s cutting-edge technologies and various ideas for life.

For healthcare IT, Panasonic will be showing its latest Toughbook Computers, including the CF-H1 Mobile Clinical Assistant (MCA). Based on the Intel® MCA reference platform, the new CF-H1 is designed specifically for nurses and clinicians. The CF-H1 is a lightweight, water-resistant, shock and drop-tolerant mobile computing device that can be easily disinfected to meet the highest demands for mobility and networking in clinical environments. It allows doctors and nursing staff to benefit from instant access to medical records at the point of care, provides accurate documentation of patient conditions and medication, and improves the overall efficiency of clinical processes.

Finally, in the devices category, Panasonic will be displaying new technologies and prototypes to support diversified medical applications, such as “Advanced Disc for Archive”(ADA) Drives and Media, Watt-Class High Power Green Laser, Non-Shrinkage LTCC Substrates, PGS Graphite Sheets and Wireless Modules. Batteries are also of much importance to various medical equipments, and Panasonic’s offer ranges from Lithium, Lithium-Ion, Alkaline, Nickel-Metal-Hydride and more.
