Saringer’s ICE-O-therm Pain Management Technology Gaining Acceptance

Stouffville, Ontario, July 19 - Canadian medical device developer and manufacturer Saringer Life Science Technologies Inc., will return to MEDICA, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair, this year backed by growing support for its unique, cold-hot approach to pain relief. The Saringer ICE-O-therm is a hand-held, battery-operated device, about the size of a small flashlight that simultaneously delivers hot and cold stimuli to treat chronic pain.

Meant for pain clinics and rehabilitation centres around the world, the ICE-O-therm will be demonstrated at MEDICA 2011, in Düsseldorf, Germany, November 16-19, 2011.

“Since we introduced the notion of simultaneous hot-and-cold therapy at MEDICA last year, we have been working closely with the Canadian distributors to introduce the ICE-O-therm to the Canadian market,” says John Saringer, ICE-O-therm’s developer and president of the company. “And we’ve seen how the ICE-O-therm as an alternative form of pain relief for patients has been well received throughout the medical community.”

That’s partly because the ICE-O-therm is is easy to use, simple to maintain, and long lasting thanks to its precision engineering. In making the device, Saringer has met stringent ISO 13485 design and manufacturing standards.

But the ICE-O-therm is gaining popularity in Canada, in the rest of the Americas, and in parts of Europe also because its technology – works.

“When we applied both hot and cold stimuli to a single anatomical point at the same time during our research, we discovered that combination overwhelms the local nerves and naturally blocks the pain emanating from them,” explains professional engineer Saringer. “It’s a unique approach to pain relief based on century old scientific principles relating to Thunberg’s Thermal Grill Anomaly. It’s also drug free and provides its relief non-invasively.”

Consequently, the ICE-O-therm is ideal for symptomatic relief and management of pain.

At MEDICA 2011, Saringer Life Sciences will be displaying the ICE-O-therm and other products in Hall 4, Booth H40 as part of the Ontario Pavilion.
