Panasonic to Present Full-HD 1MOS GP-KH232 Series Camera

Düsseldorf, Germany (November 18, 2009) – Panasonic will be unveiling its new Full-HD 1MOS GP-KH232 micro camera at MEDICA in Düsseldorf, Germany, (November 18 – 21). This camera system on display at booth D49 in hall 13 features true 1080p full HD quality as well as a newly developed DSP and Full-Pixel MOS sensor. The new GP-KH232 version offers a variety of new functions and improved performance.

Panasonic offers the new HD micro camera system in the form of OEM components for the camera head and the CCU control board. Thanks to the 1chip CMOS approach, the OEM version of the digital HD camera head becomes very small and has low power consumption.

The CCU board (OEM) version of the Full-HD 1MOS GP-KH232 comes with a completely new developed DSP. So the video format can be switched between 59.94Hz and 50Hz and the video formats 1080p (through HDMI), 1080i, 720P, 576P/480P and 576i/480i are supported. Video Out Terminals include digital HDMI x 1 as well as analog RGB/YPbPr x 1 and Y/C x 1. Furthermore, the GP-KH232 achieves horizontal resolution of 900 TVL. With a required illumination of 2000lx (at F5.6: target) and a signal to noise ratio of 54dB, the new micro camera delivers a truly convincing performance.

HD quality in micro format from long distances

The video signal is already digitized right in the camera head. The subsequent digital processing chain guarantees true colour reproduction and no loss in resolution. Panasonic’s new model will support cable lengths up to 15m that allow the camera head to be moved even long distances away without incurring losses. This, in turn, increases the number of potential applications for the equipment quite considerably.

Many different formats including HD, SD, digital, and analogue are also available. In order to provide the best possible connection to HD monitors, the Panasonic camera system features the well established digital HDMI and the analogue HD RGB/YPbPr interface. Here, the HDMI output now provides different formats up to full HD with 1080p. Furthermore, the system is compatible with the HDTV formats 720p and 1080i. If necessary, the camera can be switched to the supported HD format or the conventional 576i and 576p SD formats during operation. In addition analogue S-Video outputs is also available that simultaneously output an image in SD resolution.

Outstanding performance and functionality

Thanks to further improvements to the sensor, even minute details can be examined carefully. The new Full-HD 1MOS GP-KH232 camera system also features Electronic shutter, Gain control, Scene file, White balance, Electronic zoom, Image freezing, Flip & Mirror and Dynamic range expansion that can be activated to enhance the simultaneous display of light and dark objects. Three storage locations for different colour temperatures are available for the white balance values. The switch from artificial light to natural lighting can thus take place without having to perform white balancing again.

The industrial boxed type version of the Panasonic Full-HD 1MOS GP-KH232 micro camera will be launched around mid-2010.
