On 14th November 2016 the MEDICA trade exhibition opened in Dusseldorf, Germany – the international dedicated trade-show for medical equipment, instruments, and pharmaceutical products. MEDICA is the  leading exhibition and business forum for the development of medicine, medical technology and management systems for hospital care.

A display of by manufacturers of professional medical equipment from Moscow at the trade fair is traditionally presented with the support of Moscow City Government.

On the opening day of the trade exhibition, the Moscow exhibition was visited by the Deputy Ober-Bürgermeister of Dusseldorf, Herr Doktor A Mayer-Falke, along with the Russian Consul-General in Bonn, Mr Vladimir Sedykh, and the Russian Trade Representative in Bonn, Mr V Ilsky, along with other key figures.

After reviewing the exhibition displays, the official figures proceeded to official talks, attended by the  Deputy Ober-Bürgermeister of Dusseldorf Herr Falke, in his capacity as Health Advisor; the Chair of the Dusseldorf Chamber of Commerce, Frau A Gebauer; the head of the Medical Industry Forum, Herr Martin; and leading medical practitioners and advisors. The talks were similarly attended by the Deputy Department Head of External Economic Relations for the City of Moscow, Mr A Valetov; the Director of the State Scientific and Practical Centre for Medical Radiology” of the Moscow Healthcare Department, Mr S Morozov; and other key officials. The talks were devoted to discussion of issues of developing medical contacts between Russia and Germany, collaboration in training health professionals, and the possibilities of organising start-ups in Germany which would involve young healthcare professionals from Moscow.

The talks went on to discuss preparations for holding MEDICA-2017 in Moscow, in collaboration with the Russo-German Medical Forum – with particular emphasis on the areas of endocrinology, telemedicine, radiology, diabetes study and treatment, and issues involving the improvement of living standards of ordinary people.


“Cultural and humanitarian ties are developing strongly between Moscow and Dusseldorf. along with many years of accumulated experience of economic collaboration. We have seen exhibitions and trade fairs held, and cooperation in the spheres of civic development, education, science and further professional education” said Mr A Valetov in his address. “During the Moscow & Dusseldorf Days held over 21-214 September, we reached agreement on holding the Moscow & Dusseldorf Days once again in autumn of 2017. During the Days, a Memorandum of Intention was signed between Moscow Mayor Mr Sobyanin, and the Oberbürgermeister of Dusseldorf Herr Thomas Geisel. Mr Valetov remarked on the great potential that exists for further collaboration between the two cities.

A whole series of presentations were given at the Moscow stand during the day. Mr Ilya Pyatnitsky – Scientific Advisor for audit and coordination of scientific activities, at the State Scientific and Research Institute for Healthcare and Medical Management, of the Moscow Health Department – gave a talk about the process of management using the  Universal clinical and radiological information management systems in the context of a major metropolis, and the management of healthcare operation in the state sector when utilising the  Universal clinical and radiological information management systems of Moscow. The Laval LLC corporation gave a technical presentation of the IT systems behind the  Universal clinical and radiological information management systems of Moscow.

The Moscow stand presented the latest examples of post-operative bandage hosiery and compression underwear (from LLC Native); the AngioScan-01P personal diagnostic device for analysis of the vascular system; innovative kinds of medical dressings (from LLC Biotechpharm); disinfection and cleansing products for medical use (from LLC HYGIENA MED), and examples of compression-wear for treating scarring after burns (from the Directorate of the International Humanitarian Dimension Foundation of LLC MEDPLANT). Other companies also presenting their latest developments and services included CJSC DiaKlon; the Nordavind corporation; the Foundation of the International Medical Cluster and Scientific and Practical Centre for Medical Radiology of the Moscow Healthcare Department.

The Exhibition continues until 17th November.
