Future prospects for “Medical Technology”

India remains one of the most promising markets in the world for medical technology. Population growth and the rapidly increasing rates of income per capita have led to an increase in demand. Foreign manufacturers have benefited from this situation in particular, as dependency on imports is high in India. Last year, the entire healthcare market achieved a volume of approximately 40 billion US dollars, and is set to grow to 280 billion US dollars by 2020. The market for medical technology equipment is estimated at 2.8 billion US dollars last year, and according to the research, is growing by 10 to 12 per cent per year. The dominant service provider in the area of healthcare is the private sector which is also the biggest buyer of medical technology, accounting
for almost 86 per cent.
