Contour Products Introduces Upgraded CPAP Titration Pillow to Global Market

Advanced Design, 5-Year Warranty, Accessory Kit and Explanatory Packaging are Now Available

MEDICA: Duesseldorf, Germany (November 2009 - Hall 16, C 04) – Contour Products™, a leader in the sleep support and ergonomic comfort industry is introducing a new and improved version of the popular Contour CPAP Titration Pillow, which ensures that CPAP therapy patients sleep even more comfortably throughout the night. The updated, patented design of the Contour CPAP Pillow still features pressure-free zones that accommodate any respiratory mask for improved patient comfort, reduced mask shifting and leaks as well as greater freedom of movement during the night.

“The Contour CPAP Titration Pillow continuously receives rave reviews in the sleep industry and among patients,” says Contour Products’ founder and CEO Scott Davis. “Attendees at the 2009 Northeast Sleep Society (NESS) Conference (U.S.) were no exception, and shared the following remarks: ‘What a great idea’; ‘This would be ideal for my patients’; ‘I can see how this would really help a lot of people’; ‘What a neat design’; and, ‘How clever!’. Some additional comments were: ‘This would cut down on a lot of patient complaints during titration’; and, ‘Discomfort and mask leaks while side sleeping are the biggest complaints I hear from my patients…I can see how this pillow would solve that problem.’ ”

Upgraded features of the Contour CPAP Pillow include a more advanced, precisely molded design made of poured foam for a higher quality, more supportive and resilient product. A new thicker cover of silky, quilted padding in the hollowed-out sections of the pillow and along the shoulder area ensures that the mask, hose and body easily glide over the pillow when users change positions at night. Additional enhancements include a full five-year warranty and updated packaging that more thoroughly conveys the pillow’s features and benefits in a user-friendly format.

Responding to previous customer feedback, a new accessory kit is now available, too. The kit includes a 1” booster to make the CPAP pillow thicker for larger users and a new quilted cover accommodates the extra depth. There is also a new hose tether for increased hose control and handling and a 6-foot matching quilted, zippered hose cover.

“The Contour CPAP Titration Pillow’s updated design, additional features and accessory kit further address some of the major barriers patients encounter with CPAP therapy,” says Scott Davis. “Issues such as mask shifting and air leakage, pressure from the mask and headgear and limited sleeping positions are all obstacles to compliance that can be solved simply by using the right pillow.”

“The Contour CPAP Pillow is great for use both during titration and in the home setting. By controlling the mask variable during titration, the process becomes more manageable and improves patient acceptance of the interface. Using the pillow at home ensures comfort and compliance after titration.”

Original pillow features that address key issues affecting patient compliance include ergonomically designed head, neck and shoulder support to reinforce comfort. Specifically molded spots for users’ ears to rest in when side sleeping provide added relief. And, the pillow’s inclined upper sides support the forehead to help prevent patients from rotating their chin downward, compromising airway alignment.
