Braebon Snoring & Sleep Apnea

Breabon brings improved wearable sleep apnea technology

Canadian innovator will introduce the medical world to its new BridgeBuilder Cloud Portal –  a world first, enabling multidisciplinary clinical teams to work collaboratively towards superior sleep apnea care and outcomes

OTTAWA, September 16, 2016 – BRAEBON Snoring & Sleep Apnea will unveil its upgraded wearable technology portfolio and new BridgeBuilder Cloud Portal for the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of snoring and sleep apnea at MEDICA 2016, the world’s largest annual medical trade fair, November 14 -17 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Recent articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals have validated the company’s MediByte and DentiTrac wearables already in use with leading dentists and physicians. These products allow clinicians to more easily, reliably, and accurately measure both the type of stages and breathing during sleep as well as monitor adherence to therapy – without patients ever leaving home. The new BridgeBuilder Cloud Portal empowers healthcare providers from multiple disciplines to seamlessly share data through a secure web interface.

Braebon’s BridgeBuilder Cloud Portal is the world’s only web-based solution which permits collaborating clinicians to work together using the Test Treat Trac model that systematically identifies the best possible treatment tools. The Cloud Portal uniquely combines the testing tools of the renowned MediByte sleep apnea wearable device with the treatment tracking capability of the revolutionary DentiTrac wearable micro-recorder. Consequently, clinicians can now collaborate effectively in unprecedented ways.

As well, Braebon’s DentiTrac wearable, compliance measuring micro-recorder is the first of its kind worldwide to be cleared by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in the United States. The FDA has approved of how the DentiTrac, when embedded in a tiny oral appliance, collects a wide range of physiological parameters with sophisticated software algorithms and then produces an objective record of how well patients have adhered to their therapy. With a five-year battery life and a renewable six-month memory, Braebon clients can upload DentiTrac’s data to the secure BridgeBuilder Cloud Portal from anywhere in the world. All of this from a device less than half-postage-stamp size and weighing only five grams.

For authorized individuals around the globe, MediByte plus DentiTrac produces a powerful one-two punch of convenient patient data storage and secure universal access. For people in under-serviced and remote areas, this high-tech combo means more of them can be monitored and more will have access to the sleep apnea specialists they need. Conversely, those specialists can better diagnose and treat more people worldwide than ever before. And because they can now share their patient data with other disciplines, monitoring physicians can adjust treatment for better outcomes.

“DentiTrac is truly a gold standard for how therapy adherence devices should be powerful yet small and comfortable for patients to wear and use in the home,” says  Dr. Richard Bonato, CEO and Co-Founder of Braebon. “We’ve had decades of experience in medical device design and we are proud to announce such an innovative product on a world stage such as MEDICA. We believe the fair’s generally tech-savvy visitors will see how DentiTrac’s features make it unparalleled technology.”

Dr. Bonato predicts that DentiTrac’s ability to inexpensively and reliably confirm adherence to sleep apnea treatment will make it a must-have for physicians, dentists, and other healthcare providers alike: “We believe such accurate ongoing treatment monitoring will boost overall growth in respiratory medicine and in the burgeoning dental-sleep medicine market. Transport regulators around the world, for example, are increasingly concerned about driver and pilot fatigue and its potentially fatal dangers. I believe DentiTrac monitoring will become a pillar of public safety.”

Dr. Bonato credits DentiTrac’s innovative nature to the company’s unique “Test Treat Trac” development approach, which engages clinicians across multiple disciplines to collaborate and find better, more reliable tools to treat the sleep apnea patient.

“Sleep apnea is a growing worldwide epidemic and Braebon is well positioned with our home sleep apnea testing equipment to both diagnose and manage sleep apnea treatment outcomes – without requiring the patient having to go to a sleep clinic and undergo an expensive and inconvenient sleep laboratory procedure,” says Dr. Bonato.  “Now patients have a choice of where they can undergo testing procedures.”

Donald Bradley, Braebon’s CTO and Co-Founder, adds: “Our challenge was to develop a miniaturized, user-friendly yet sophisticated measurement technology using the same technology found in leading hospital facilities. We had to rethink the use-case scenarios and create a novel and powerful solution. The level of product sophistication connected with our cloud portal is beyond anything we’ve done before. I’m very proud of what our team has accomplished.”

BRAEBON has distributors on six continents and is actively seeking new innovative distribution channel partners. In North America, BRAEBON is working with numerous leading medical facilities and dental laboratories, and is actively seeking distributors for all products in other parts of the world.
