ABIMO - Brazilian Medical Devices Manufacturers Association

Brazil’s 10. Participation in MEDICA: New Markets and Launching a New Brand Name

Brazil’s healthcare industry will hold a press conference on the 17th of November, at 11am, Room 812, Hall 8b at MEDICA Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.

In only one decade, since Brazil entered the international market, the number of countries buying medical equipment manufactured in the country has gone from 40 to 180.
During this time, business in new markets has increased Brazilian exports by 232%. This growth of Brazil’s presence in the international market is largely due to both heavy investment in research and development and an export strategy drawn up jointly by ABIMO (The Brazilian Association of Manufacturer of Medical Devices) and Apex-Brasil (the Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investments).

As part of this strategy, to further project Brazil onto the international market, ABIMO and Apex-Brasil will launch, at this year’s MEDICA - the world’s largest medical trade fair taking place in Dusseldorf, Germany – Brazil’s new umbrella brand name for the sector: Brazilian Health Devices.

“The brand name, Brazilian Health Devices, will encompass the different sectors exporting medical equipment, allowing us to supply products with easy-to-access technology, coming from a diversified industry which can be trusted and which can also offer commercial flexibility to our consumers”, says Paula Portugal, manager for international projects at ABIMO.
